Punch Telematix launches CarCube Express for 100 % fleet management

26 September 2008 by LS

Punch Telematix, a growing and innovative telematics company listed on the stock exchange, is launching CarCube Express. Transport companies that rely on subcontractors or use leased vehicles can now incorporate this on-board computer just as efficiently in their planning as they do with their own vehicles and drivers. The curtain-raiser for this innovation is for visitors to the IAA Commercial Vehicles trade fair in Hanover, Germany, which started on 25 September 2008.

Compact and fast

"More and more transport firms are using a transport management solution to optimise the efficiency of their business processes and service provisioning," says Wim Maes, CEO of Punch Telematix. "And more and more transport firms are relying on subcontractors and leased vehicles, either regularly or occasionally, to cope with peak workloads. But leased vehicles and vehicles of subcontractors are not usually equipped with on-board computers because the investment required is less worthwhile for them. The result is obviously less efficient communication, gaps in scheduling and a patchy overall picture. With CarCube Express we are offering transport firms the possibility also to equip their subcontractors and leased vehicles with on-board computers, quickly and cost effectively."

CarCube Express is compact and can be fitted in no time. It can be ready for use in less than five minutes. The device is affixed to the dashboard by means of a suction mount or bracket. The antenna is placed on the dashboard or on the roof of the truck and a cigarette lighter plug provides electricity. After use the CarCube Express is removable just as quickly for use in another vehicle.

Seamless integration

CarCube Express offers the same functions as the CarCube – the Punch Telematix inbuilt on-board computer – both for driver and dispatcher. It features the same intuitive touch screen. Drivers receive their instructions and report completed jobs via the on-board computer, while dispatchers always have an overview of vehicle location and status. So like CarCube, the CarCube Express integrates seamlessly with back-office applications. The result is a fully-fledged integrated transport management solution for the entire vehicle fleet, including subcontractors and leased vehicles.

CarCube Express in action

The IAA stand of Punch Telematix will be welcoming visitors until 2 October 2008 (Hall 24 - D10). From 30 September to 3 October 2008, CarCube Express will be demonstrated at the ICT & Logistics fair at Utrecht, the Netherlands, from 16 to 18 October at Technotrans at Nantes in France, and from 17 to 20 October 2008 at Transport 2008 at Wallonie Expo in Belgium.
